
From salsa to ballet and everything in between, this is a conditioning class for dancers of all genres, all ages, and all body types. Mat Pilates targets the deep core strength, spinal mobility, and postural alignment that every dancer needs, translating directly into sharper turns, more powerful hip isolation, and greater control from center to fingertips. In this class we will work through exercises designed specifically for dancers’ bodies: correcting imbalances, building stability in the supporting leg, and sharpening the body awareness that takes your dancing to the next level. All styles, all levels, all welcome — come ready to move!

Jacquie Velasco holds three certifications from BASI pilates. One for their comprehensive program, one for pilates for pathologies and injuries, and the other a specialization in pilates for dancers. She also holds a certificate in ballet infused reformer under the study of master ballet dancer, Or Kahlon, as well as advanced training in conditioning and rehabilitation under acclaimed dance physical therapists Dr. Suzanne Martin, Dr. Traci Stevens, and Dr. Nick Cutri.
Beyond her credentials, she is known for her creativity, effective communication, infectiously kind and upbeat energy, and for being able to infuse a sense of humor during even the hardest of exercises. As a lifelong dancer who had to rebuild her health after a lengthy struggle that culminated in a thyroidectomy, she also deeply understands the importance of movement therapy in every sense, at every stage of life and fitness.
Jacquie has worked in multiple facets of dance and dance conditioning with Disney, Hulu, Paramount, Loyola Marymount University, American Contemporary Ballet, the Los Angeles Ballet, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
